Adolescent and Adult Residential
Services
Residential
treatment for men and women are separately housed residential
programs for adults who meet admission criteria and whose behavior
and physical health can be safely managed in the treatment environment.
Assessment
for admission is provided by appointment at any outpatient clinic
or during a client’s stay in detoxification services. The residential
program intervenes in the client's cycle of chemical dependency,
promotes the client's acceptance of the problem and need for treatment,
begins development of recovery skills, and prepares the client for
the next level of care that will best sustain his or her recovery.
Recreation services, the Challenge Ropes Course for building self-confidence
and social skills, and 24-hour nursing services for minor health
problems and monitoring of health regimens and medication are provided.
The average length of stay is 90 days, with actual length determined
by the completion of discharge criteria in the client's individualized
treatment plan.

Project WARM
(Women Assisting Recovering Mothers) is a long-term residential treatment
program for women who are pregnant, less than one year post-partum
or otherwise putting dependent children at risk due to the mother's
addiction. Mothers can reside with their children under age 6 on-site
at the Center.. Mother and child are provided with a safe, secure
environment, recovering while learning parenting and life skills.
Length of stay is three months to one year, with the actual length
of stay determined by the completion of discharge criteria in the
client’s individualized treatment plan. Assessment for admission is
provided by appointment at any outpatient clinic, through linkages
with Women’s Intervention Specialists, or during a client’s stay in
detoxification services.

Residential
Adolescent Program (RAP) is an intermediate term residential
program that intervenes in the adolescent client’s cycle of chemical
dependency. The program promotes the client’s acceptance of the
problem and the need for treatment, begins the development of recovery
skills, and prepares the client for the next level of care that
will best sustain his/her recovery. Services provided are individual
assessment, group and individual therapy, treatment planning, educational
groups, educational services (provided by the Volusia County School
System), family education and therapy, recreational services, skill
building groups, and the Challenge Ropes Course for building self-confidence
and social skills. Length of stay is four to six months with actual
stay determined by completion of discharge criteria in the client’s
treatment plan. The program serves moderate to severe chemically
dependent clients ages 12 to 17 who meet admission criteria and
whose behavior and physical health can be safely managed within
the program. RAP also serves clients ordered under the Marchman
Act for involuntary treatment, or referred by the Florida Department
of Juvenile Justice or the Florida Department of Children and Families
Dependency Court.
Assessment
for admission to this program is provided by appointment at
the adolescent outpatient clinics. An appointment can be made by
the client or a family member by calling our Outpatient Customer
Service office at (386) 947- 2480 or any SMC outpatient office between
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. At our Outpatient
Customer Service Office, a voice message may be left after business
hours and the call will be returned within 12 hours or the next
business day. Other locations for admission assessments include
the Florida Department of Children and Families office in Daytona
Beach, Volusia Regional Juvenile Detention Center, and the Phoenix
Wing. Arrangements can be made, as time allows, for an assessment
counselor to assess a potential client at other community services
locations. Clients may enter the program as a result of a civil
commitment under the Marchman Act or a court order from criminal
or dependency court.
