related to all kinds of substance/alcohol abuse, the effects of
abuse and addiction and many other topics related to the substance
abuse and mental health fields. The center is open to the entire
community serving parents, youth, community leaders and professionals

Prevention
on the Move:
The Prevention
on the Move project is a community-based collaboration that centers
on the mobilization of services that will be delivered to the community
of Volusia and Flagler Counties through the use of a mobile resource
unit. This project will deliver prevention and education services
directly to the community with a focus on the detection and arrest
of HIV, HepC, and other communicable diseases through an easily
accessible and confidential service delivery system, and is connected
to other grant programs awarded to the community. A collaboration
of community human services providers will create a "One Stop Shop"
for testing, immunizations, and linkage to many social service providers.
The Prevention on the Move mobile unit is customized to provide
a confidential office for the collection of personal data and testing.
With collaborative partners actively involved with this project,
Prevention on the Move will be available after hours and on weekends
and in locations where the community services are not usually available.

Closing the Gap:
Stewart Marchman Center was awarded funding by the Florida Department
of Health to deliver prevention and health care information to minority
women of child bearing age that are residents of the Daytona Beach
Central City Front Porch Community. Closing the Gap seeks to minimize
the social disparity that exists with regard to infant and maternal
health, with specific goals stated to reduce the incidence of infant
and maternal mortality. This project will consist of a community
based health care access service to promote pre- and inter-conceptional
care, including nutrition and weight management, family planning,
smoking cessation, economic self-sufficiency, immunizations and
health screenings. The project will partner with "Prevention on
the Move"* as a vessel for on-site delivery of healthcare education
and awareness programs, including pre- and inter-conceptional information,
to at risk minority women within this community.
