I was arrested for prostitution during my fifth month of pregnancy. I was given the opportunity to enter treatment or go to jail for several months. Prior to coming to Project WARM I had a $300 to $500 daily drug use habit, which I supported through prostitution.

Upon entering treatment I met with my counselor and together we developed my treatment plan. I attended group therapy five days a week for two hours each day. It was in these groups that I began to talk with other mothers who were also addicted and I learned my addiction was not unique. I also attended AA/NA meetings regularly. I obtained a sponsor with whom I stayed in daily contact. My sponsor helped me to understand the 12 Steps. I attended parenting classes at Easter Seals.

Ninety days after I entered treatment I delivered a healthy, drug-free baby girl who weighed eight pounds one ounce. She is just beautiful and I am very thankful to Project WARM for showing me the way to a healthy drug free baby girl. Following my two-week post-partum rest I resumed attending groups and continue to work on my recovery. I'm working to keep custody of my daughter and live in recovery for the rest of my life!
